ietro Barbaro becomes one of the most dynamic companies in shipping and logistics. The Barbaro Group has managed, through its controlled and connected companies, more than 100 vessels of different types (oil and chemical tankers, bulk carriers, ro-ro, ecc.), ordering more than 50 vessels in Italian, European and Far-East shipyards.
Gianni Barbaro has played a pivotal role in the shipping industry worldwide.
In 1979, toghether with Fagioli Group, Gianni and Alfredo Barbaro created the company Finaval, which has been the first Italian shipping company to obtain ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 certificate and the first to have ordered a double hull oil tanker (1989).
Gianni has been Vice-President of Bulkitalia, Director of Interporto Rivalta Scrivia, Chairman of Novamar International and Porto Ercole; he has been also founder of Fluvio Padania, President of Evergreen Italy, one of the leading shipowners specialized in the transportation of containers.
Employing the fleet of PB Tankers SpA in the Baltic Sea, he has specialized in the transportation and logistics of Russian oil product, starting an important plan of investment in the river-sea tankers for the transportation of oil products in the Volga-Don region and Caspian and Black Seas through the controlled company Prime Shipping which has built and managed 28 vessels, including tankers, barges and tugs.
In September 2015 a new important partnership has started for Prime Shipping through the Joint Venture between Rosneft, Sberbank Investments and Pietro Barbaro S.p.A.
In June 2016 a joint venture between Rosneft and Pietro Barbaro “Prime Internationa Limited” has been created which is aimed to provide shipping services and guarantee the best marine logistics solutions.
Gianni Barbaro has been conferred upon the honour of “Cavaliere del Lavoro”.
Gianni has two daughters: Federica and Francesca.
